What’s so special about Volta mode?
This is the first time to integrate a completely different mode into the game. Volta mode is reminiscent of FIFA Street, which was released as an independent game in 2005 and 2012.
Match type: street mode or futsal
Works in all Volta modes: no substitutions, injuries, yellow or red cards, no endurance and no offside.
There are also differences between the three:
- Here you can play in “3 to 3” or “4 to 4” without the goalkeeper. But the gates are smaller.
- Here you can play “4 to 4” or “5 to 5” with the goalkeeper. The gate is the size of a futsal.
- Here you will always compete with the goalkeeper in a “5 to 5”. Referees provide stricter rule interpretations for fouls, and each mode applies. The number of fouls is counted here: In the sixth foul, the opposing team was penalized. Fouls also increase penalties. In addition, you always play large venues that are not related.
In Volta mode, you can choose from three different sizes: small, medium or large.

What modes does Volta have in FIFA 20?
Volta Offense
In this mode, you can use existing players from real teams. If needed, you can also choose between three internal rules: no rules, survival, or goal setting. Before teeing off, you can decide whether you like to play during peak, street or futsal matches.
Volta Story
Here you will tell a story. But this time, you are creating your own unique character.
You can either earn certain items by solving tasks or buy them in the Volta store with the newly launched Volta coins. You only need to complete the game to get FIFA 20 ultimate team coins.
This story is a tutorial for the entire Volta mode. According to EA, anyone who tells a story needs to be fully prepared for all other Volta modes, and this takes about five to six hours.
Volta Tour
Here, you and your team play against a team generated by other Volta users but controlled by a computer, similar to the Ultimate Team’s Square Battle mode. However, nothing is offline here, and an Internet connection is also required here.
Volta League
Here you can advance to higher leagues with victory and set your favorite match settings on your home court. However, in the away game you have to deal with your opponent’s settings.
Chemistry Styles
Volta has seven different chemical styles (CS):
Volta World: Each player comes from a different home
Unity: All players are from the same home court
Sister Cities: Three players from the same home court and two players from the other
Quartet: Four players from the same home court
Trinity: Three players from the same home court
Duet: Two pairs of players from the same home court
Double Duet: A pair of players from the same home court
You need to be aware that you can only activate one CS.
Skill tree
With every game you play in any Volta mode, your avatar will grow. Depending on how you work, your ratings will change. The better your performance, the higher the player’s rating.
Skill trees provide more customization options for your avatar, and they also come into play here. This includes three branches (defense, midfield, offense) with position-specific attributes.
If you gain skill points by playing games, you can unlock other attribute enhancements or unique game skills.
